1. Who we are

Cotuz is an educational adventure game for kids age 6+. This site is operated by the Cotuz team. Reach us at privacy@cotuz.com for any privacy question.

2. Information we collect

From the parent account:

  • Email address (sign-in + recovery).
  • Display name (optional).

From each kid profile:

  • Nickname, age, avatar choice.
  • Gameplay progress: answers, level completion, mastery scores, items earned.
  • Anonymous device + browser info to debug crashes.

We do not knowingly collect real-name, address, phone number, or location data from kids.

3. How we use it

  • Save progress so the kid can resume where they left off.
  • Adapt question difficulty per the 7 sub-skill mastery model.
  • Improve the product (aggregated, anonymous stats).
  • Reply to support requests + send important account emails.

4. Analytics

We use a privacy-respecting analytics pipeline. All user IDs are SHA-256 hashed with a server-side salt before any event leaves our servers. Events strip name + email automatically. Hosting is EU-residency. The opt-out toggle in your dashboard turns analytics off completely; we also honor browser Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control signals.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with advertisers, brokers, or third parties for marketing.

We use vetted infrastructure vendors (hosting, error tracking, email delivery). They process data only on our behalf, under data-protection agreements.

6. Your rights

Parents have the right to: access data we hold on the account, correct it, export it, or delete the account and every kid profile attached. Email privacy@cotuz.com and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies + local storage

We use a small set of first-party cookies + browser localStorage to keep you signed in, remember settings, and cache gameplay progress. No third-party tracking cookies are set.

8. Children's privacy (COPPA / similar)

Accounts are parent-managed. Kids cannot create accounts on their own. If you believe a child has signed up without parental consent, email privacy@cotuz.com and we will delete the profile immediately.

9. Changes to this notice

We'll update the "Last updated" date and notify account owners by email for any material change.
