During the day, the Sun shines on us. That is why we can see colours, play outside, and feel warm. The Sun is a giant ball of light far away in space.

Earth slowly spins like a ball. When our side faces the Sun, it is DAY. When our side turns away from the Sun, it is NIGHT.
Night is for resting
When the Sun is on the other side of the world, our side is dark. We can see the Moon and stars in the sky. Most people sleep at night.
