Rhymes end the same
Two words RHYME when they end with the same sound. Cat and Hat both end with "-at". Bug and Rug both end with "-ug".
Listen to the ending
Say the words out loud. Do they sound similar at the end? Sun and Run rhyme. Sun and Sand do NOT rhyme.
Rhymes make songs
Many songs and poems use rhymes because they sound nice together. Twinkle, twinkle, little STAR, how I wonder what you ARE — star and are rhyme!
