The 4 main directions
Maps and compasses use 4 main directions: North (N), South (S), East (E), West (W). North is always at the top of a map.
Sun rises in the East
Every morning the Sun comes up in the EAST. Every evening it sets in the WEST. So you can find direction just by looking at the Sun!
North and South poles
The very top of Earth is the NORTH POLE (cold, polar bears 🐻❄️). The very bottom is the SOUTH POLE (also cold, penguins 🐧).
